• Occurrence

  An important copper ore, it is found wherever copper deposits occur, namely Chile, United States (New Mexico, Arizona), Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Nambia, former Soviet Union, Australia, France and England. Often found alongside the mineral Azurite, a bluish copper ore.

• Appearance

  Usually banded from bright to dark green, opaque. Malachite has a very distinctive color. Sometimes found with bluish bands of Azurite.

• Enhancements

  Malachite is occasionally coated with colorless wax, or rarely impregnated with plastic and/or other hardened agents to improve durabilty and appearance.
